Popeye Energy Drink

Popeye has been in a lot of commercials. This is a strange one though. Apparently Popeye is "a failure". He told us to eat our spinach but we didn't listen. Also, who is the voice of Popeye in this?

Cartoon Fan Clubs Part 7-- More Bullwinkle and Ken Harris

The Bullwinkle Club membership card on the top was designed by Sam Clayberger. You can see all that stuff in Darrell Van Citter's Art of Jay Ward Productions book or Keith Scott's episode guide that came with the Complete Bull (the Rocky and Bullwinkle Complete Series DVD box set). I don't know the back story of The Ken Harris Club.

Cartoon Clubs Part 5-- Popeye

Image result for popeye club

Popeye got his own club before Mickey Mouse. There is still a Popeye fan cub. The fan club is this website: Popeye Fan Club. They actually had Popeye Club meetings at movie theaters. Movie theaters often ran the Popeye Club.

Cartoon Clubs part 4--Rocky and Bullwinkle

Rocky and Bullwinkle had something called Rocky and Bullwinkle Fan Club. I don't know if this is a thing. There was later a Rocky and Bullwinkle Saving Stamps Club. This was made many years after the Bullwinkle Show ended. Mr. Peabody and Sherman and Bullwinkle actually were in the same thing. I think this is the only time Bullwinkle and Mr. Peabody spoke with each other.

Cartoon Clubs Part 3---Mighty Mouse

I believe it was because of the Mickey Mouse Club and it's success. Mighty Mouse's fan club was known more than Huck Hound's was. Pines Comics even did a Mighty Mouse Fan Club Magazine.
John K also talks about it Here

Late Night with The Simpsons

Here is a few Simpsons appearances on late night talk shows. Conan O'Brian was actually a writer for the Simpsons on such classic episodes as Marge vs the Monorail. Matt Groening is on many of these.

Matt Groening on his show before the Simpsons aired, promoting his new show. This appeared in 1989. That shows lasted longer than the host did.

Success! (Closer to)

No this is not about the documentary but it is about Chuck Jones. I had been writing to the TVO letters and emails about bringing back the Jones/Freleng Talking Film Interview. They now are probably going to do it and are getting the producers to work on doing it! Also about the documentary, I have found some articles that you may see in the future. I just need permission to use them.

Late Night with Mel Blanc

Mel Blanc did a ton of stuff on talk shows.

Here he is with Jack Benny on Johnny Carson's show.

Here he is promoting 1001 Rabbit Tales.

Late Night with Disney

David Letterman's Late Show and Late Night had many animation appearances including many of your favorite figures in animation. Also, many other late night talk shows did too. Ollie Johnston and  Here is the first section on Disney figures.

Here is Jimmy Macdonald doing many of his famous sound effects.

Here is Frank and Ollie on Johnny Carson's show talking about their book. I don't think he actually read it but I wonder if he kept the copy.

Talking Bugs Bunny

Interesting ad from 1948. Talking Toy Co. These ads were in magazines in late 1948-early 1949. There were three characters made. The characters were Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Woody Woodpecker. They apparently wanted representatives based on the title representatives wanted.
