A Beginning of 2024 Review of Stuff
Some reviews by me of things that you probably have all bought by now if you've got my obsessions... If I'm missing anything notable it's because I've yet to snag a copy due to my current limited (and already way over-stretched) purchasing powers as an MLS grad student, but I certainly will be purchasing A LOT MORE eventually!
1. Flip the Frog- The Complete Series---Who here hasn't bought this yet though? This set is possibly Thunderbean's best work and is a labor of love for Steve Stanchfield and David Gerstein. With every cartoon perfectly restored, who would pass this up? I cannot recommend this enough! Available at The Thunderbean Shop website or Amazon if that's what you prefer.
2. Looney Tunes Collector's Choice Volumes 1 and 2-- Jerry Beck and George Feltenstein always put out incredible stuff. Both volumes include 20 or more classic Warner Bros Cartoons and is a wonderful buy for anyone who loves these cartoons.
4. Meet Jerry: My Life, My Adventure-- Jerry Eisenberg is an incredible artist who I've always admired. I've been lucky enough to meet Jerry on several occasions and interview him several other times for various projects. This book features an incredible amount of new and exciting information also on Jerry Eisenberg's dad Harvey who I consider to be one of the greatest and most underrated artists in the history of comics. The book is a very limited edition and is available exclusively through Stuart NG Books.
3. Advertising Anarchy! Selling Bud Abbott & Lou Costello To War-Torn America-- An ultimate labor of love for comedy expert Rick Greene! This book is a must have on any bookshelf for anyone who is a fan of Abbott & Costello. The price may seem a bit steep at first but it's an ultimate collection of over 700 pages worth of material. Worth every cent.
5. Disney Comics Around the World--- Once again, David Gerstein brings out another perfect collection of Disney comic books that is a must have for anybody interested. This time, a Target exclusive!
6. The Puppetoon Movie Volume 3--- Once again, a classic collection that everybody should've bought by now. This perfect collection includes more Puppetoons curated by Arnold Leibovit.
8. Ray Harryhausen: Special Edition Collection--Available wherever you're Blu-Rays are sold is a new collection of Ray Harryhausen films. While all the contents have been released on other collections, this new collection combines eight great Harryhausen films into one box set and is filled with incredible bonuses features including commentaries and documentary bonuses. The set is region-free.

This documentary is quite good. Most of you have probably already seen it, but I'm sharing it here anyways.

This is one of my favorite comic books. Artistically it's one of the best HB comic books ever.

Mr. Jinks and Boo Boo? Sure Why Not!
Now these two characters were paired together in this record and this coloring book but their connection pretty much stops at the cover. Why they were paired in one title I don't know, neat though! Hanna-Barbera did other odd parings too such as comics like Huckleberry Hound and Yakky Doodle which I suppose was due to Yakky being added to the Huck syndication package when it started reruning on local stations.
You're seeing missing links because Blogger is willing to let me add them. Google is making this service more and more difficult each time I post it seems

This fantastic newsreel is today's video link."Passing Parade" did a segment where newspaper artists are showcased drawing their characters. This was produced during WWII by MGM. As quoted from the description, those featured are:

When was the last time you picked up a brand new comic book and laughed? Been a while right? For me, it's been a while since I've even bought a comic that wasn't fifty years or older. However, this is a must have and I highly reccomend it! Biffle and Shooster, America's favorite fake 1930's comedy duo, are the stars of comic books that came out a while back. These comics have been combined into one brilliant collection titled Biffle and Shooster's Comic Compendium! It's brilliantly written by Mike Kazalah and Will Ryan, who is Shooster to Nick Santa Maria's Biffle.

While you're at it, I also highly recommend you buy their brilliant shorts on DVD. The set includes 5 Biffle and Shooster shorts from the 1930s (well, not really, but yeah they're from the 30s) with everything to love like music, gorillas, Vernon Dent, Cinecolor, and the brilliant work of actors Nick Santa Maria, Will Ryan, and director Michael Schlesinger.

Questions for You Guys About this Ad--What Was It Made for and What's this Actor's Name?
Hello everybody, Today I'm doiling away at special posts for this blog, doing my
homework, and jotting into about seven time intensive posts for Cartoon
Research. I've also been working on something specific for this blog. For the
past year while balancing college, I've been toiling away at a weblink database
for this blog. It's why the blog has been relatively untouched. In the meantime,
I've got a question for you guys. Was this the first time the Looney Tunes
characters appeared in an advertisement on Television? This was made in 1956 and
I'm wondering if this was the first time Bugs was mentioned in a TV commerical.
I'm sure they were mentioned in kid's shows using the AAP packages. Also was
this a local kid's show host or someone else. I'm wondering who this was in this
ad?

A Bill Scott Fan Documentary
Hey everyone!
While I continue to toil away at posts for Cartoon Research and a special post for this blog, I just wanted to share this.
For the past year I’ve been helping Amber Jones with a fandocumentary on Bill Scott. At first, I was a bit skeptical about her project because most people who Bill knew have already passed so I wasn’t sure there was much to tell. However once she showed me the original audio and photos, I was absolutely amazed. I was absolutely onboard with the whole thing. Most of this stuff I had never heard before and neither have most of you. I was so impressed when I first spoke to her about her passion for Jay Ward that I helped her write sections of the doc, particularly the John Sutherland part. I also promoted the podcast on Mark Arnold’s podcast too!

Well I guess if Pluto and Goofy can coexist, this makes sense too. It seems weirder though. Huckleberry Hound was chased by dogs all the time which never seemed weird.
