Today's video link--Jackie Ormes

Sharing from the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library's site is another great piece of footage from a great comic artist. Jackie Ormes was the very first African American woman to get her own newspaper strip. All of you should check her strip and read Nancy Goldstein book which can be bought at this link
This segment was part of a newsreel call One Tenth of a Nation and the entire thing was also preserved by the LOC which can be seen here...

Poster via Heritage Auctions This fantastic newsreel is today's video link."Passing Parade" did a segment where newspaper artists are showcased drawing their characters. This was produced during WWII by MGM. As quoted from the description, those featured are: * H.H.
