Popeye has even been referenced in Simpsons Merchandise. Here are a few examples
In the Popeye comic strip, the first words he uttered were sarcastically asking if Castor Oyl thought he was a cowboy. In the Simpsons Comic Book, this quote and appearence is referenced.
A frequent merchandising pose for Homer and his beloved Duff Beer is him imitating Popeye. Like I showed on the last post, Homer has numerously referenced Popeye by becoming strong by chugging beer with the Popeye theme in the back. This image of Homer as Popeye the Sailor has been put on T-Shirts, bumper stickers, tattoos, and even long underwear.
